Many of the top athletes are investing in land and businesses in the surrounding countryside transforming the terrain. Today, multi-storeyed modern builldings characterise the town's skyline.

An acre of land in the posh Elgon View Estate goes for between one and two million shillings. Self-Contained houses rent for between Ksh. 5, 000 and Ksh. 25, 000 per month depending on the estate.
In the outskirts of the town, residential houses are increasingly being converted into offices especially in Elgon View, Kapsoiya and Pioneer Estates.
Non-Governmental Organisations operating in the area including International Organisation for Migration, Red Cross and World Vision among others have contributed greatly to the conversion of residential houses to offices in the recent past.
The challenges faced by Eldoret constructors include the high construction costs, due to sourcing of raw materials from as far as Kisumu, Koibatek and Nairobi.
Investors are actually demolishing low capacity houses to create room for storey buildings.
